An Electric Fence is not just a''Shock Machine'', but rather both a perimeter alarm system, as well as a deterent. Electric Fencing including COC (Certificate of Compliance):
Your Electric Fence can be connected to your existing, new or futurehouseold alarm system or as a stand alone unit / system, with its own siren and radio for an Armed Response Company.
It is basically designed to set off an alarm signal when wires are cut or tampered with by shorting or touching the wires,
as well as obviously to shock
if touched with up to 10 000 Volts, depending on which Energizer you have, and the type of wire, and also obviously on the condition of the fence and its original installation quality!
The typical Electric Fence consists of the Energiser, which is plugged into the 220v mains to give it power, with its own 12v back up battery that takes over should the main power fail or trip, HT Cables which take the power to the actual fence, and then the fence itself, which consists of various kinds of brackets, wire, and accessories such as spring tensioners, ferrules and Gate Contacts etc.
If installed correctly, when cut or tampered with, it will set of an alarm to notify you of an intrusion, or fault from storm damage etc.
For Certificate of Compliance (COC), the main difference from a non compliant fence is that you need Lightning Diverters, 3 earth spikes BEFORE the HT Cables reach the fence, and every 30m thereafter, and correct Gate Contact, as well as no live wires under 1,5 meters. No rust or corrosion is allowed, nor are hand wound connections allowed!
We fix what your guys always says ''But its working fine!!''
Signs that your Electric Fence is not correct, and won't set off the alarm to warn you are as follows:
1/ Any plants, trees, shrubs or creepers and grass touching or growing through the wires
These especially in rain or morning/evening dew conditions, should immediately set your fence into alarm!!!
In fact, I cannot even meter the fence to check for open or short circuits if plants or trees are touching the wires, because it gives me a false reading and I can be searching for a short circuit for days or weeks and not find it!
Either I charge extra to trim the plants, and then continue with my fault finding, or you cut it and I come back again.
Often, just cutting back your trees and growth can solve your problem!
Plants also increase the resistance and make the Energizer work harder thus reducing the Energizer life and also lowering your fence Voltage.
So, any growth whatsoever, means that your electric fence simply cannot be working correctly in any way at all!!!
Either the links are wrong, or the Energizer has been connected not to show
faults!!!
2/ If your sliding gate has only 1 wire on it coming from the electric fence!!!
You need the propper and correct in line Gate Contact to complete the circut on the gate, otherwi
se that one wire can be cut and no alarm will go off!
In other words, you can have a perfect million rand electric fence, but if you dont have the correct Gate Contact with 2 wires, you can cut the 1 wire and there will be no alarm and no power on the gate, rendering your fence useless...
Yet another problem often associated with sliding gates are the links - if all the wires are linked together you can touch all of them and no alarm will go off once again!!
3/ Any obvious broken wires or links
4/Excessive rust
5/ Your Fence ''Clicks'' by a bracket, especially after raining or when dew is present
6/ If your links were incorrectly installed
Our Speciality is fault finding and rectifying correctly so your alarm actually goes off as it should!!
Allow us to show you that your current fence is not working as it should be and give you an assessment and quote to make it work as it is designed to!!
We assess properties and provide Certificate Of Compliance in accordance with the new laws.
Provide Monthly Maintenance Agreements tailored to suit your individual needs, requirements & budgets including cutting trees, grass, growth etc.
7 out of 10 sliding gates are incorrectly connected to the fence and your Energizer will not go into alarm mode if wire cut!!We'll install the propper Gate Contact and connect it theright way!
3 out of 10 electric fence links areincorrect on live so the alarm can't go off if cut or shorted!
Most electric fences do not have enough Earth Spikes which are very important!
