To help with some of your questions

- 1) What does it mean if plants, shrubs, trees, creepers or grass is touching my electric fence?
- It's much more serious than you think!
- This means that if its raining or dew and your electric fence is not alarming, that your fence is altogether wrong and wont alarm if cut or tampered with, even if there is power on it!
- Your voltage is lowered and your energiser has lots of resistance to cope with and its working much harder than it shoyuld be, thereby reducing or shortening the life span of the enerigizer (for example if it would have lasted 5 yrs it may now only last 3 years etc.)
- Water is a conductor of electricity so if trees or plant growth is on or through your electric fence, it should alarm immediately if the fence was right.
- It will also create false alarms
- 2) What does COC or Certificate of Compliance mean?
- COC or Certificate of Compliance means you need a fully Certified Installer to sign off your electric fence when installing or repairing or when selling the property.
- It has to comply with certain industry standards as well as work properly.
- The main differances between an already insalled electric fence WITHOUT coc and a COC'd one are firstly you need lightning diverters, secondly, 3 earth spikes BEFORE the HT cables get to the electric fencem and every 30m thereafter, and no hand wound wires / connections, and it must have the warning boards ever 10m. there are other items but those are the main ones.
- 3) How much does it cost or cost per meter?
- This some companies may quote over the phone or a per meter price, but we cannot do that as i must see the actual property or site, as there are many variables involved such as distances, is the wall or ground level or steep uphill, what must we mount or brackets onto, what route to be utilised for the HT cables and what is the best place for the actual enerizer, and many more.
- In fact, I insist that the owner / decision maker or at least the manager must be there with me so that i can point out all the important details and we can look at all the options, and then once agreed i continue with the actual quotation.
- 4) Do i have to do the whole fence at once?
- NO. you can start or begin with just one wall or side at first, or even only part of it, then add on and add on as your budget alows or over time. Just install the most needed section or weak link or area break ins are occuring most then expand the electric fence later.
- Just make sure you install a big enough Energizer right at the beginning which will be able to power the whole fence once your additions are completed.
- 5) Sliding Gate Contacts!
- If you have only one wire or chain connecting your electric fence to your sliding gate, its wrong!!!
- You must install a propper two pole in line gate contact otherwise it wont alarm properly!
In addition we can design stand alone Solar power kits for your Electric Fence Energizers or Centurion D5 Gate Motors.
